WACD welcomes Lisa Zaborac to the WACD Board of Directors. Lisa serves as a board supervisor with the Grays Harbor Conservation District and was elected to the Southwest Area Director position at the 2021 annual meeting of the Southwest Area Association of Conservation Districts.
Lisa has an AA and AAS in Natural Resource Management from The Community Colleges of Spokane. She has worked for the Natural Resources Conservation Service in various field offices: Walla Walla, Othello, Ephrata, Spokane, and Wenatchee. Her work was mostly focused on Irrigation Water Management and Irrigation System designs.
Lisa was appointed to the Grays Harbor Conservation District board in 2019.
Lisa and her husband Shane run a small business and live in rural Grays Harbor with their two teenage sons, Sky and Brady. She grew up in a military family and her husband grew up in Aberdeen. On their first date, he told her his plan was to move back home. They visited and Lisa fell in love with the area!
When asked why she joined the Grays Harbor Conservation District board, Lisa said:
I had liked their Facebook page and in January of 2019, they posted about the opening on the board. I was excited about the chance to get involved in an area that I had been trained in and serve my community at the same time. In addition, I would like to see conservation districts expand to small acreage owners like myself. I think there is a lot of opportunity for conservation education in that set of landowners.
Lisa is active in local politics and is currently running for an elected county office.
