Southwest Area Association of Conservation Districts

Thurston CD will host the Southwest Area meeting in Tumwater on Thursday, October 10th.

Announcement from Thurston CD
August 28, 2024

Good afternoon to the Southwest Area Supervisors, Managers, and Partners,

On behalf of Thurston Conservation District, I invite you to the 2024 Southwest Area Meeting to be held at Heritage Distilling Company in Tumwater on Thursday, October 10th.

The purpose of these meetings is to provide opportunities for CDs to exchange information, secure consensus on natural resource issues, effect cooperation between the districts, and “inspire supervisors to full acceptance of their responsibilities for leadership” as written in your area association articles and bylaws. There will be opportunities to engage with state conservation leadership, learn about the activities and impacts of your neighboring districts, and vote on resolutions.

Registration information is in the attachment, as is the agenda for the meeting. There will be an additional opportunity for Heritage Distillery tasting and continued conversation after the conclusion of the meeting for those interested. Please note that there will be two elections during the business meeting to represent the area on the state WACD Board of Directors. In addition to the two-year term ending in October for Position 1, there will be a mid-term election for Position 2, as Area Director Lisa Zaborac will unfortunately be relinquishing her position as a Grays Harbor CD Supervisor in the near future.

Please reach out to myself or host Thurston CD if you have any question or need assistance.

Very sincerely,

Ryan Baye
