After 10 years, Spokane County is in the process of updating its Community Wildfire Protection Plan. The plan aims to decrease the risk of wildfires from starting, but is also in place to slow fires when they are ignited, allowing firefighters time to respond.
As the Deputy Director at Spokane County Emergency Management, Chandra Fox oversees the facilitation of many emergency management systems.
“The purpose of The Community Wildfire Protection Plan is to provide communities strategic overview for how they manage wildfire litigation throughout the jurisdiction,” Fox said.
The Community Wildfire Protection Plan educates the public, while also developing avenues for community members to provide input to wildfire mitigation agencies in Spokane County, Fox said.
