Asotin County CD is seeking a Restoration Crew Members

Position Description

The Asotin County Conservation District is accepting applications for multiple Restoration Crew Members to form a newly developed crew. The Crew Members are responsible for the implementation of restoration projects, including tree/shrub/grass plantings and maintenance, low-tech process-based instream restoration and adaptive management, forestry, weed control, and non-commercial best management practices.

The duties of this position are to implement restoration projects, including tree/shrub/grass plantings and maintenance, low tech process-based instream restoration and adaptive management, forestry, weed control, and non-commercial best management practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Work with landowners, NRCS, and partners to implement project plans.
2. Planting trees, shrubs, and grass on restoration sites.
3. Maintenance of riparian restoration sites.
4. Install and complete adaptive management of hand-built instream restoration structures: post-assisted log structures and beaver dam analogs.
5. Chemical and mechanical weed control.
6. Livestock best management practices for non-commercial agriculture projects.
7. Collect field data for specific projects or critical areas.
8. Participate in outreach activities such as workshops and tours.
9. Assist the District’s Board of Supervisors in carrying out its program responsibilities.
10. Operate equipment as required for fieldwork according to safety requirements and district policy.
11. Perform other duties as assigned by Crew Leader, District Manager, Conservation Program Manager, & District Board of Supervisors.

Compensation

This position’s compensation will start at $18.00 to $21.00 per hour DOQ/DOE. This position is in the Wage Range 3 which is set by the Board of Supervisors. Benefits for this position include 8 hours of paid sick leave per month, 8 hours of paid vacation leave per month, 11 paid holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday, medical insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, and optional DCP retirement plan participation.

This is a full-time, non-exempt (eligible for overtime pay/comp time accrual) position. Regular work schedule is Monday – Thursday, 7 am to 5:30 pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Schedule may be adjusted based on weather conditions and coordination with landowner schedules. Additional evening and weekend work will be required occasionally and may require overnight travel. This position is scheduled for 50 weeks per year.
