DNR Conservation Easement Forester, Natural Resource Specialist 2
Position Description
Are you excited to work with small forest landowners across Washington State? Are you interested in conservation easements, forest practices rules, and compensating landowners for trees they are required to leave around protected natural resources? The Forestry Riparian Easement Program (FREP) and Rivers and Habitat Open Space Program (RHOSP) in the Small Forest Landowner Office at DNR are seeking a Natural Resource Specialist 2 (NRS2) with a strong forestry background and desire to work closely with small forest landowners. You will coordinate with small forest landowners who have applied to our programs to set up and purchase conservation easements on their forest land. You will travel around the state and work on private forest land where recent timber harvests have been conducted. This position is a mix of office work and fieldwork. There are currently three other Conservation Easement Foresters on our team who you will have the opportunity to work with. Employee satisfaction is very important to the Small Forest Landowner Office and we value an open, fun, and respectful work environment.
