Thank you to John George and Joe Williams

It is with a grateful heart that WACD sends our best wishes to two NRCS Area Conservationists for their time and dedication to Washington State’s conservation districts as they continue on their career pathways. If you had the opportunity to work with either individual, please take the opportunity to send them off with a fond farewell.

Joe Williams – West Area Conservationist

Coming to the Evergreen State after five years as a District Conservationist in California, Joe served as Washington’s West Area Conservationist since July of 2018. Based out of Olympia, Joe oversaw NRCS’s Northwest, Puget Sound, and Southwest Teams in addition to his other responsibilities.

Joe will be furthering his soil health credentials in the next step of his career. After cutting his teeth with the Corvallis Plant Material Center and supporting Washington’s State Soil Health Committee over the last few years, he has accepted a position with NRCS’s National Soil Health Division based out of the West National Technology Support Center in Portland, Oregon.

John George – East Area Conservationist

John spent the last two years as the NRCS East Area Conservationist, serving the Northeast, Palouse, West Palouse, and Snake River Teams.

John is relocating to the Silver State, serving as the Natural Resource Conservation Service’s American Indian Liaison in Nevada.

His portfolio will include assisting with conservation work with the 32 tribes in the state and building program participation and trust with the tribal communities in that state.
