The Washington Association of Conservation Districts, in partnership with the Washington Conservation Society, invites conservation districts and partners in Washington State to join us on Slack. In this time where conservation districts are adapting to new ways of communicating with partners and constituencies, WACD believes this tool can help improve communication within our conservation community.

Slack is an acronym for Searchable Log of All Communication and Knowledge. It’s a tool that is well-known among large corporations. Some of the folks in our community know it, use it, and find this alternative to email to be helpful.

Slack focuses conversations in channels. Those conversations can be in real time or you can log in later and participate at your convenience. Join one or more channels to participate in focused conversations about a particular topic.

Direct messaging is available to facilitate one-to-one communications. Slack also includes a file-sharing feature. Records are retained and searchable, important considerations from a public records point of view.
