PMC Article on Extracting Seeds

WACD’s Assistant Nursery Manager, John Knox, just published an article in Forest Stewardship Notes and Landowner News, a Washington State University Extension and DNR publication. John’s article on “How to Use a Blender to Process Seeds” provides step by step instructions on which plants in which season to collect fruit from, and how to go about processing the fruit to collect the seeds. Below is an excerpt from the article:

Propagating native plants from seed is an excellent way to develop an at-home nursery of resilient stock for your planting projects. Collecting seeds to start those plants is a great way to interact with the land. There are a great variety of shrubs and trees that produce berries, which can be valuable to you or wildlife. In those berries are seeds that will propagate more plants, but only with proper extraction.
