Foster Creek Conservation District enhances watershed health in Douglas County
When you turn on the tap or drive past a stream, you’re connected to something much bigger — a watershed. These natural systems quietly shape our environment, from providing clean drinking water to keeping forests green and rivers healthy. In Douglas County, our land is shaped by two major watersheds, also known as water resource inventory areas (WRIAs): the Foster Watershed (WRIA 50) and the Moses Coulee Watershed (WRIA 44). Keeping these watersheds healthy isn’t just about protecting rivers — it’s about caring for the soil, the plants, and the balance of nature that makes life here possible.
The Foster Creek Conservation District has implemented various best management practices (BMPs) to enhance the overall health of the Foster Watershed.
