Natural Resource Agency Comparisons

One task Ryan does each year is compare the various natural resource agency budgets. These numbers are a point in time capture, not including the supplemental budget. It is a straight comparison of what was adopted in FY23-25 biennium budget to the FY25-27 biennium budget.

FY 25 – 27 Operating Budget

  • Washington State Conservation Commission – $49.032 million (reduced $3.045 million from FY23-25)
  • Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife– $791.478 million ($47.657 million increase from FY23-25)
  • Puget Sound Partnership – $51.853 million (reduced $489,000 from FY23-25)
  • Department of Natural Resources – $1.025 billion (reduced $11.335 million from FY23-25)
  • Washington State Department of Agriculture – $424 million ($103 million increase from FY23-25, though $93 million is dedicated to new Emergency Food assistance funding)
  • Recreation and Conservation Office – $22.494 million ($1.229 million increase from FY23-25)
  • Washington State Parks – $256.429 million (increased $778,000 from FY23-25)
  • Department of Ecology – $1.076 billion ($152 million increase from FY23-25, though $96 million is authorization to pursue federal grants)

FY 25-27 Capital Budget

  • Washington State Conservation Commission – $58 million (reduced $5 M from FY23-25)
  • Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife – $96 million (reduced $36 million from FY23-25)
  • Department of Natural Resources – $292 million (increased $17 million from FY23-25)
  • Washington State Department of Agriculture – $9 million (increased $1 million from FY23-25)
  • Recreation and Conservation Office – $467 million (reduced $29 million from FY23-25)
  • Washington State Parks – $43 million (reduced $38 million from FY23-25)
  • Department of Ecology – $1.267 billion (reduced $99 M from FY23-25)
