King CD Riparian Habitat Stewardship Program Assistant

Position Description

This position serves as an entry-level technical member of a team of conservation professionals at King Conservation District (KCD), a county-wide, natural resource management special purpose district. This position involves labor-intensive, multi-faceted duties that require an elevated level of motivation, versatility, and independence. The individual holding this position primarily provides field-based support for the implementation of riparian buffer enhancement projects associated with KCD Riparian Stewardship Programs. Other duties associated with this position include: 1) supporting the coordination of KCD-sponsored Washington Conservation Corps crews and other contractors; 2) conducting vegetation monitoring and preparing project assessment reports; 3) supporting volunteer events at KCD restoration projects and monthly Native Plant Cooperative events; and 4) providing field operations support for the Native Plant Cooperative and the annual Native Plant Sale. This position works in the field approximately 75% of the time. The individual holding this position must be flexible in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and possess confidence in executing field tasks independently under variable and physically challenging conditions.

Compensation

Full-Time, Non-Exempt Position:
This position will start at the hiring Grade of 22, Step 1, currently at $ 51,426.25 annually. After passing a successful 6-month probation, candidates will automatically move to step 2 within the
salary band.

Work Schedule:
Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday work schedule. Some weekend and evening work is occasionally required.
