Wildfire resiliency event held in Lyman
LYMAN — The Skagit Conservation District and its partners held a wildfire resiliency event Thursday designed to help property owners prepare their homes for wildfire.
Wildfire risk is increasing because of warmer temperatures, less summer rain and earlier snow melt, district staff said.
The district provides free individual home risk assessments for wildfire.
Walters said if groups of homeowners are interested in joining a community wildfire risk program, such as Firewise, they are welcome to reach out to the district for assistance.
Skagit County already has five small communities that are registered as Firewise.
