Education Specialist

Location:  Office located in Okanogan, Washington, with travel throughout Okanogan County
Salary : $23.66 to $31.03 per hour (Range 50, Step A through L), DOE
Benefits: Medical and vision insurance, Washington State Retirement (PERS), vacation leave, sick leave and 11 paid holidays per year.

Description

Okanogan CD is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join the district as an Education Specialist. The Education Specialist will deliver quality natural resource and conservation education experiences to Okanogan County youth in pre-K through 12th grades. These programs are conducted in classrooms, outdoor settings, and community learning events, such as the Okanogan County Fair,
farmers markets, and other community events.

Current priority projects include:

  • Delivering existing lesson plans on priority natural resource topics in collaboration with local educators.
  • Assisting with the coordination and implementation of eight local school gardens
  • Developing new educational lesson plans based upon feedback from educators, students, and district priorities.
  • Assisting with the coordination and implementation of the Ecology of the Okanogan class

Typical Work

The Education Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing education and outreach programs that promote the conservation of natural resources in Okanogan County. Programming developed and implemented by the person in this position is primarily directed towards youth in pre-K through 12th grade. Some work will be directed towards and delivered to adults related to district
programming, natural resources, and priority conservation issues in Okanogan County. Okanogan CD projects are primarily grant funded and the incumbent of this position will collaborate with partners and staff to develop grants for continued funding and program implementation. The person in this position will coordinate with district staff, educators, and local conservation partners to plan and
secure funding to implement natural resource education programs throughout Okanogan County.
