WHATCOM — Brandy Reed has stepped into the role of Whatcom Conservation District manager as a bit of a return to the setting of her college days.
Reed, who earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in science education from Western Washington University in Bellingham, was chosen last fall to replace George Boggs, who retired after 24 years heading the district.
In between for Reed were 25 years with the King (County) Conservation District, most recently as director of strategic partnerships. The emphases are understandably different from one district to another, although the ultimate goal is always to protect natural resources.
“It’s a great job. I love it,” Reed said in early March, having been on board in Whatcom about five months.
