Top two themes:

  • Thank you for a great WACD annual conference
  • New legislators, new county commissioners

1. ANNUAL CONFERENCE THANK YOU

Please share with our members and partners how much we appreciate their participation and patience in the 2020 WACD annual conference and business meeting. The feedback beginning to arrive indicates that the event was well received. The feedback survey is currently open at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BV5Z2BV. Please share this link widely so that we can get the best view of how our people perceived the conference. The information will help us evaluate this year’s event and give us a head start on building out a program for the 2021 conference.

2. NEW LEGISLATORS & NEW COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

If a conservation district has new legislators and/or new county commissioners, they need to establish a relationship with them as soon as possible. The demands on these elected officials will be overwhelming. The best time is now to share who you are, what you do, and the communities you serve. Elected officials are vital to the success of conservation districts. Please do help our conservation districts build productive working relationships with their electeds.

3. MEMBERS PAGE NOW HAS A LATEST NEWS TAB

We have started posting the latest, most significant WACD news for members to the opening tab on the Members page. The Members page is at https://wadistricts.org/members behind the password WACD1942.

4. RESOLUTIONS ADOPTED

A summary of resolution statements adopted by WACD members at the 2020 business meeting is posted on the Members page under the Resolutions tab.

5. WACD OFFICERS ELECTED, AREA DIRECTOR OPPORTUNITIES

Following the adoption of a bylaws change, incumbent WACD president Jeanette Dorner was re-elected to a third term. This was an important step for the Association because it assures experienced leadership will be in place during the very challenging year ahead of us.

Pend Oreille CD supervisor Mike Mumford was newly elected to the position of WACD vice president. Mike is a great addition to the leadership team, bringing us extensive experience that many of our people do not have. He strengthens our team and promises to be a tremendous officer of your state association.

Two area director slots are currently not filled: one in the Southeast Area and one in the Northeast Area. If you know board supervisors in those areas, please encourage them to become an area director so that they can help us continually improve our service to our member conservation districts.

Thank you

As we reach the end of another calendar year, please accept my sincere appreciation for the work that all of our people do. This year has demanded more than usual from each of them and they have responded by demonstrating great heart and perseverance, all the while staying true to mission. I am incredibly honored to be part of this endeavor.
